About the Region: Tarrazu
The Tarrazu region has long been celebrated throughout the coffee world for its consistently high quality beans. Tarrazu has made such a name for itself that coffees produced outside the region are sometimes marked "Tarrazu" simply so its vendors can charge more for them! This region is host to the highest elevated coffee plantations in the country and it benefits from this due to a dry season harvest.
Farm Level: Asociaion de Familias Organicas de Los Cerros Caraiges (AFAORCA)
AFAORCA has been producing Fair Trade organic coffee for over 20 years with just under 1,000 bags of coffee exported. The Co-Op is composed of 32+ families that mostly produce at 4,900 ft. The farm attributes its great tasting coffee to the types that they grow — caturra and typica.
Our Coffee:
These choice Arabica coffee cherries are ripened evenly at 1,400 to 1,600 meters above sea level, hand-picked, sun-dried, and medium-light roasted for a vibrant, unmistakable flavor that is truly worthy of one of the coffee world's most celebrated growing regions. We've honed a unique roast profile for this coffee that highlights its distinctive cacao and grapefruit notes and unites them with a complex medium body and addictive tartness.
